Member Profile

Ron Donnelly

Ron might almost be our longest standing member.

A hills chap through and through. He grew up in Monbulk and has been a Belgrave resident for over 30 years.

From the early days when the RSL was only a small venue, less than a third of the size that it is today. Ron would come the RSL as a strapping single lad. He would enjoy a drink with many fellows that are listed on our past president's board.

In 1983 Ron and his lovely fiancée held their engagement party at the RSL. Ron remembers attending monthly 'social nights" full of dancing and laughing. The ladies would bring a plate and it was a lovely gathering.

From a young age Ron has always dedicated his time to volunteering for the community, first with the CFA and then with St Johns Ambulance. He currently shares his time between our RSL and Camp Eureka.

Ron dedicates at times more than 20 hours a week to the RSL. He is our cleaner, our gardener, our building maintenance, our "go-to" man. He is an absolute gentleman, very accommodating and nothing is ever to much.

We are eternally grateful for all that Ron does for us.

If you see Ron about please shake his hand and extend your thanks and gratitude for the wonderful man that he is and the effort he puts in for the RSL.

Volunteers roles are available onsite, remote or hybrid.
